Little Bells is about ancestral resilience, particularly of girls, and is an exploration of childhood as a time when make-believe and second sight may be one and the same. (I am interested in the concept of what children might know and see before the burdens of adulthood set in.) Played by my own daughters, the characters "Beatrice" and "Emma" are loosely based on my maternal relatives who lived on a homestead in northern Wisconsin in the mid-to-late 1800s.
